Ready or Not!

alarm clock

Read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”  Luke 12:40

I awoke from the sound of loud island music and the sun shining in my eyes. For a moment I forgot we were vacationing in Bermuda. My husband had set the radio alarm clock but had not checked the volume. I didn’t expect to be awakened so abruptly.

Still tired from our busy schedule, I suggested that Jim reset the alarm so we could rest another hour. There was no urgent reason to get up.

One day, Jesus will also come back unexpectedly—with a shout and the sound of the trumpet. On that day, I won’t want to reset my alarm clock for a later hour.  As a Christian, I’ll be anxious to open my eyes and stay focused on the Lord  from the moment He appears.

Many people are apprehensive about meeting the Lord face to face. If they have invited Christ into their life before He returns, there is no need to be fearful. If not, they won’t get a second chance to repent at the last moment.

The hour is late. Let’s share the good news with others so they won’t be caught unprepared.

PRAYER: Lord, let me tell others about Your free gift of salvation every chance I get. Then they’ll be ready to meet You face to face at any moment.  Amen.
