Make Your Plans in Pencil

Hand With a Pencil

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 17:5-8

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. Jeremiah 17:7(NIV)

I recently discovered a thought provoking saying: “Write your plans in pencil and give God the eraser.” What a terrific concept!

So often we plan our days without praying and without asking God for guidance. We fill our calendars with things we want to do or have to do, most of which are good. But excessive busyness keeps us from spending time with God.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) is one of my favorite scriptures. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” What an awesome promise! What an incentive to submit our agenda to God for approval before making our own plans—and an opportunity to assess if we really need to be involved in all the activities on our calendar.

Loving God and sharing the gospel should be our first priority. By giving Him the eraser, our lives will be eternally rewarding.

PRAYER: Lord, reveal Your will to me today. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Happy that you stopped by again. Hope you enjoyed my message. It’s good food for thought for me too.

Like everyone, I have a tendency, at times, to make plans without contacting the Lord, but I should know better. Things always work out better when I bring God into the picture.

An unorganized, overloaded  schedule which we arrange ourselves results in confusion.  We cannot do a job right if we don’t give ourselves enough time. It’ s better to accomplish a few things properly than trying to schedule more than we can possibly handle.

Write your plans in pencil. Let God tell you which things to erase.
