Different Gifts – Different Blessings

Do you think that others are more talented than you? I used to feel that way, but I’ve changed. God has shown me that He intentionally gives each of us different writing gifts, so that He can be glorified in a variety of ways.

It’s easy for me to be intimidated by the accomplishments of other writers. When I read that someone has written 200 articles, another has published 20 books, and yet another has written 500 poems, I tend to compare my achievements to theirs. When I do that, I’m tempted to stop writing. But when I look at things from God’s perspective, I realize that there is a place in His plan for each of us. Perhaps God is counting on your words or mine to touch a specific heart in a certain way.

I used to apologize for writing only poems and devotions, but these come easily to me and seem to minister to many. Short seems to suit me best.

Did you know that we can reach more people with short pieces in magazines and Sunday school papers than through books? A few devotional booklets I’ve written for reach out to over 100,000 readers. We write and God decides who our words will touch.

Each of us is unique. No one else can say things the same way we can. That’s what makes the body of Christ so interesting. Wouldn’t it be boring if we were all alike!

Don’t underestimate the value of your gifts. The Bible says there is much rejoicing over one sinner who repents and turns to Christ. Think about it! Your gift can be the one to make that happen.
