Obeying God

Read Proverbs 1:20-33 (NIV)
Whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm. Proverbs 1:33.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to do that?” That’s a familiar phrase we’ve all spoken to our children on more than one occasion. It’s frustrating when you have to repeat the same question over and over because your child doesn’t pay attention to your instructions.
If we get discouraged when our children tune us out, imagine how God must feel when we do things our own way without listening to him. We discipline our children because we want what’s best for them, and our Heavenly Father disciplines us for the same reason. Obeying brings blessings in both cases.
Throughout the Bible, God repeatedly lays out clear instructions about what we’re to do and the consequences of disobedience. The recurring theme is “Do what I say and you will be blessed. Disobey me and you will reap the rewards of your actions.”
You’d think we’d have gotten his message by now.
Prayer: Father, as your children, may we always listen to you.

Hi Everyone….
I am happy to share another devotion with you. I switch back and forth from poems to devotions to change the format. I love writing both, but what I enjoy most is combining an everyday event with a spiritual analogy to uplift my readers. Would love to hear feedback from you. Have a blessed week.
