God’s Word – Our Best Teacher
Read I Corinthians 10:1-13
“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:12
The devil made me do it! How often have you heard someone say that?
Ever since Satan tempted Eve to disobey God , these words have been quoted. Sometimes jokingly, other times seriously. It’s so easy to blame someone else for our actions, instead of taking responsibility for them ourselves.
God promises that regardless of our circumstances, we will not be tempted beyond what we can bear. He also promises to give us a way out.
But how can we know what course to take unless we are filled with God’s Word and are aware of the tools that we have to fight with.
The world bombards us with television programs, movies, and magazines that are filled with sexual immorality, violence and ungodly values. Clubs offer risque entertainment. Everywhere we turn, there are temptations to sin. It’s so easy to follow the crowd.
Once we read God’s Word and learn what He expects from us, will we listen to Him or still turn our backs, as our fathers of old did?
The choice is ours.
Prayer: Let God’s Word dwell in our hearts so that we will have scripture to fight temptation.
