Away With The Old

Read 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” Philippians 3:13

Recently, a series of taped messages opened my eyes to the fact that by clinging to bad habits and mindsets I miss out on experiencing God’s true joy. The speaker reminded me that as a believer I have the mind of Christ. She emphasized that when I dwell on the negative rather than the positive, I block the flow of the Holy Spirit and miss out on the good things God has planned for me.

Yesterday, while listening to one of these tapes in my car, God caught my attention in the most unexpected way. On the truck in front of me was boldly displayed the most appropriate message—“Away With the Old.” Though these words actually applied to the company’s refinishing process, I knew in my heart that God was saying “Put the past behind. Start anew!”

Isn’t it great how God uses everyday things to help us change!

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for caring enough to speak to me in ways that are meaningful. Help me to apply on a daily basis what You are teaching me. Amen.

Hi Everyone…..

Today is a good day to start anew. God gives each of us an opportunity each morning to put the past behind us and enjoy the present. So often we dwell on what has happened or what we could have or should have done. Thinking this way just wastes time and clouds our minds.

I spent many years thinking “What if?” But it got me nowhere. I have learned to think positively and not fill my head with negative thoughts. Of course, I slip up, like all of us do. God knows that will happen. The key is to keep a good relationship with the Lord and to rely on Him to help us stay on track.

        Have a blessed week.                  Love……Fran
